About
the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental New York within the Food
and Beverage Department in New York the Substitute Bartender is responsible
for helping in the overall day to day operation, and long-term outlook of
the restaurant. The Bartender will help create a pleasant dining environment
and experience for guests.

The Substitute Bartender reports to
the Assistant Director of In-Room Dining.

As Substitute
Bartender, you will responsible for the following duties:


  • Support company's philosophy and company culture through the use of Pillars
    of Legendary Quality Experiences on a daily basis to ensure Guest Satisfaction

  • Support company's

    Experiences on a daily basis to ensure Guest Satisfaction and the achievement
    of our Mission Statement
  • Support company's philosophy and company
    culture through the use of Guiding Principles and D.E.L.I.G.H.T as part
    of ensuring Guest Satisfaction and the achievement of our Mission
    Statement.
  • When serving beverages, abides by all state, federal
    and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages
    to minors and intoxicated guests.
  • Preparing drinks in accordance
    with the server orders.
  • Responsible for mixing drinks, serving drinks,
    cleaning bar, setting up and breaking down the bar.
  • Make sure that all
    glasses are wiped and spotless.
  • always Maintaining cleanliness of
    the bar area and well stocked with supplies and beverages
    including:

    straightening bar area continuously

    cleaning counters,
    floors, shelves, and refrigerators; remove trash.

    checking coolers
    and shelves to ensure proper stocking of beer, wine, liquor, and all
    beverages.

    stocking bar with ice as needed.

    checking for supplies
    such as sugar, salt, stir sticks, straws, napkins as per specified inside work
    list.

    Requisition of additional supplies as needed.

    cutting fruit
    and garnishes

    retrieving special garnishes from kitchen

    restocking
    bar with clean glasses

  • Report all suspicious persons or activities
    and hazardous or unsafe conditions to the management.
  • Understand
    and follow the laws and guidelines for beverage service.
  • Provide
    excellent service at all times to all of our guests and servers.
  • Assist
    Guest courteously and efficiently.
  • Provide instruction and/or guidance
    for guest and employee safety in fire or other emergency situations.

  • Respond to all guest questions. Provide guest assistance, direction,
    and information as requested when working in public areas.
  • Extensive
    knowledge of food and beverage to service and up sell our product, including
    liquors and cocktails.
  • Assist Bar and Lobby Lounge cocktail server
    in lounge when necessary.
  • Attend all food and beverage training
    classes.
  • Following the posted opening and closing duties and side work
    sheet
  • Attend daily pre meal/communication meeting.
  • Attend
    monthly department meeting.
  • Generate a good atmosphere.

As Substitute Bartender, we expect
from you:

  • Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English
    language.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule and holidays.
  • Be
    a self-motivator and motivator of others.
  • Work in a safe, prudent,
    and organized manner.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of food
    and preparation.
  • Have a good knowledge of wine.
  • Have
    a excellent knowledge of mixed drinks and cocktails
  • Be able to relate
    to all levels of guests and management.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years’
    experience in similar position.
  • Have the ability to handle multiple
    tasks at one time.
  • Have excellent communication and organization
    skills.
  • Maintain a clean and healthy personal hygiene
    and grooming.
  • Be able to consistently delight and satisfy our
    guest.
  • Have the ability to handle guest requests in a detailed
    manner.

Pay
and Benefits:

  • Pay $33.27 to $44.37 hourly- commensurate
    with experience
