Job Description

JOB OVERVIEW:

Lead the day-to-day activities
of the restaurant/bar.  Supervise the service and delivery of menu items
in assigned restaurant and bar ensuring a high level of quality
and consistency.  Adhere to federal, state and local regulations concerning
health safety or other compliance
requirements. 

 

DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Train and schedule employees
    to ensure proper coverage.  Monitor performance and recommend corrective
    action.  Alert management of potentially serious issues. Ensure all staff
    is properly trained, and certified as required, and have the tools and equipment
    needed to effectively carry out their job functions
  • Respond in a prompt
    and professional manner to guest requests and complaints.  Make appropriate
    service recovery gestures according to established guidelines in order to ensure
    total guest satisfaction.   
  • Greet guests pleasantly as
    they approach the restaurant; promote house drinks and utilize up-selling skills
    whenever possible to maximize revenues.   
  • Adhere
    to established food and beverage service standards to provide a consistent
    product to the guests and to control costs.  Make appropriate service
    recovery gestures according to established guidelines in order to ensure total
    guest satisfaction.   
  • Oversee cash handling and check/credit
    policies and procedures. 
  • Inspect restaurant daily to ensure high
    quality food and food presentation and cleanliness.
  • Conduct pre-shift
    meetings to inform staff of daily events.   Review daily
    specials.
  • Ensure side work duties are complete and tables are set
    before, during and after operating hours.
  • Perform pre- and post-shift
    meetings with AM/ PM shifts staff members
  • Be responsible for all food
    and beverage service metrics, such as overall F&B, breakfast
    and dinner/bar.
  • Be well versed with the health department standards
    and pass all inspections and audits. 
  • Work directly with the cook
    and staff to place food and beverages orders once a week.
  • Perform other
    duties as assigned.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily
    communication and coordination with other departments. 
  • Follow
    procedures to (1) ensure the security and proper storage of liquor, bar
    inventory and equipment, (2) ensure the security of monies, credit and financial
    transactions (obtain, count and secure bartender’s bank; receive cash and credit
    payments from guests; give accurate change and balance cash drawer at end
    of shift), (3) order and/or replenish/requisition supplies, inventory, uniforms,
    etc. in a timely and efficient manner, and (4) minimize waste and breakage
    of glassware and supplies. 
  • Inspect restaurant and bar daily
    for cleanliness and attractiveness and inspect all equipment and machinery
    for proper operation.  Ensure the team follows all guidelines for daily
    cleaning and sanitations.

 

Qualifications
and Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and one
year food service experience in a full service restaurant or similar
setting.  Some college or supervisory experience
preferred.

 

This job requires ability to perform
the following:

  • Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50
    pounds
  • Moving about the outlet(s)
  • Handling food objects
    and products
  • Bending, stooping,
    kneeling

  • Communication skills
    are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with customers
    and employees 
  • Reading and writing abilities are utilized often
    when completing paperwork, scheduling, and giving and receiving
    instructions. 
  • Mathematical skills, including basic math, cash
    handling, are utilized frequently.
  • Problem solving, reasoning,
    motivating, organizational and training abilities are used
    often.
  • Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit
    or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government
    agency.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or
    holidays.

The hourly pay range for this role is $23-26.
