Role Purpose
Reporting to the Director
of Engineer Design of the Central Support Desk (CSD), your role will be pivotal
in delivering structured Engineering support from pre-signing to opening New
Build, Conversion & Existing Hotel Investment projects across the EMEAA
region.
Key Accountabilities
To support
the design and development of high-quality, effective, efficient, sustainable
and compliant mechanical or electrical building services systems. Starting
from the point of creating the Brand Suitability Report (BSR) for New Build
or Property Investment Plan (PIP) for conversion projects, and through key stage
review and feedback from concept to completion, ensuring projects are delivered
on time, within budget, and to our investor, operator and guests client
specifications.
In your role, you will be expected utilize and grow your
knowledge & understanding of new technology and the solutions that
are geared towards improved sustainability, increased effectiveness &
efficiency in the operation of our hotels and through the deliver greater
experiences for guests, You will be expected to support this through
➢ BSR /
PIP Production – You will produce a BSR for New Build Hotels or PIP
for Conversion Projects, through which you reflect the Engineering & Brand
Safety Standards (BSS) that is / are applicable. You will also issue our
Technical Handbook (THB) and refer to the design and fit out approach we take,
which will enable the investor appointed MEP Design Consultants to develop
the detailed design specifications, calculations, and drawings (2D/3D)
for building services including Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning
(HVAC), electrical power, lighting, drainage, plumbing, fire & life safety
and sustainable solutions.
➢ Design Stage Review - You are expected to carry
out assessments of consultant design at concept, preliminary and full design
stages. The assessment made must provide detailed report on the compliance /
none compliance in reflection of the BSR/PIP, the applicable Brand Standards
and the solutions set out within The Technical Handbook (THB).
➢ Tender Stage
Review – you will be required to review, assessment and reporting of the pre
& post tender documents / reports from the project consultant team
and
review of any tender submittals provided by the supplier / contract teams
approached.
➢ Implementation stage Review – You will be part of the team
that reviews and comments on consultants’ designs in terms of
the appropriateness in design, budget and operational needs such as access
and maintenance ease. Through this stage our field engineers will make site
visits and provide you with reports, you will be expected to review these
and comment on areas of risk or none compliance.
➢ Opening & Post Opening
Review – You will be expected to provided guidance on IHG’s commissioning, test
& inspection certification requirements, review as built / as installed
plans and operations instructions.
You will be asked to review these and establish compliance to the documentation
delivered through the build journey and package this together for delivery
to our New Hotel Opening (NHOP) team member who will formally open the property.
You may be called upon to also provide information from the CSD data base for
a post opening review process.
Critical Expertise,
Experience and Educational Attainment
Required:
Educational Attainment:
A degree
in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Design with an emphasis on the Design,
Build & Technical fit out of Hotels, Hospitals, Residential or Retail
Environments
Certified in Fire Safety Engineering & proven experience
of Sustainability & Decarbonisation practices and solutions.
Design Team
management Certification / experience is an added advantage
Professional
Engineer (PE) qualifications in design and commissioning
are preferred.
Critical Expertise &
Experience:
Minimum 5 years post technical graduation experience
of working within a recognized Design Consultancy
Well versed in Fire life
safety equipment and Key Engineering Equipment (Electrical Switchboard
distribution, elevators, plumbing and sanitary, ventilation, heating,
air-conditioning, etc) testing and commissioning procedures, preferably
with hands-on understanding.
Hotel operations/working experience within
a multi-national corporate environment is considered an added advantage.
