Job Description

JOB SUMMARY


Assists department head in managing budget, capital expenditures,
preventative maintenance and energy conservation. Accountable for maintaining
the building and grounds with particular attention towards safety, security
and asset protection. Assigns, tracks and follows up on status of work assigned
to staff and contractors. Helps increase guest and employee satisfaction through
effective communications and training.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience


High school diploma or GED; 4 years experience in the engineering
and maintenance or related professional area; technical training
in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing.

OR

• 2-year degree from
an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics,
or related major; 2 years experience in the engineering and maintenance
or related professional area; technical training
in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing.

CORE WORK
ACTIVITIES

1. Engineering Operations &
Maintenance

  • Oversee daily engineering operations, ensuring
    all building systems operate efficiently and safely, including HVAC, electrical,
    plumbing, fire protection, lifts, and life safety systems.
  • Manage
    and monitor the preventive maintenance programme to minimise downtime and extend
    asset lifecycle.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of guest rooms, public
    areas, event spaces, back-of-house facilities, and outdoor areas.

  • Supervise and prioritise work orders, ensuring timely and quality
    completion.
  • Act as the engineering lead in the absence of the Director
    of Engineering.

2.

Regulatory Compliance & Safety (Singapore)

  • Ensure full
    compliance with all local regulations and standards, including but not limited
    to:
    • Building and Construction Authority (BCA)
    • Singapore Civil
      Defence Force (SCDF) Fire Code
    • Ministry of Manpower (MOM) Workplace
      Safety
    • National Environment Agency (NEA) requirements

  • Maintain all statutory certifications, inspections, and records.

  • Ensure fire life safety systems, emergency systems, and evacuation
    procedures are regularly tested and compliant.
  • Promote a strong safety
    culture and enforce proper use of PPE and safe work practices.


3. Financial & Asset Management

  • Assist
    in preparing and managing the engineering operating budget and capital
    expenditure (CAPEX) plans.
  • Control costs through efficient resource
    allocation and preventive maintenance strategies.
  • Participate
    in lifecycle planning for major equipment replacement and upgrades.

  • Manage inventory, spare parts, and procurement processes effectively.

4. Project & Vendor Management


  • Support planning and execution of refurbishment, renovation, and capital
    improvement projects.
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors,
    consultants, and service providers to ensure compliance with specifications
    and timelines.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and maintain effective
    supplier relationships.
  • Introduce innovative solutions and technologies
    to improve operational efficiency and guest experience.

5. Sustainability & Energy
Management

  • Drive energy conservation and sustainability
    initiatives in line with Marriott ESG goals and BCA Green Mark standards.

  • Monitor and optimise energy and water consumption across the property.

  • Support implementation of smart building technologies and predictive
    maintenance systems where applicable.


6. Guest Experience & Service Excellence


  • Ensure all engineering services enhance the luxury guest experience
    with minimal disruption.
  • Respond promptly to guest feedback
    and operational issues related to engineering.
  • Collaborate with Rooms,
    F&B, and Events teams to support high-profile functions and large-scale
    events.
  • Maintain high standards of presentation and functionality
    across all guest-facing areas.

7.

Leadership & People Development

  • Lead, coach,
    and develop the Engineering team to achieve operational excellence.

  • Plan manpower deployment, work schedules, and training programs.

  • Ensure team members are trained in safety procedures, emergency response,
    and technical skills.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork,
    and continuous improvement.
