The Role

The
Assistant Executive Housekeeper supports the Executive Housekeeper in
the overall management and leadership of the Housekeeping Department, ensuring
the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest comfort in line
with Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service standards.

In a pre-opening
environment, this role is critical in assisting with setup, systems
implementation, and team development to ensure operational readiness
and seamless execution from opening day.

Key
Responsibilities

Pre-Opening & Operational Setup


  • Support the Executive Housekeeper in all pre-opening activities, including
    planning, setup, and departmental readiness
  • Assist in the development
    and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and service
    standards
  • Support procurement and setup of linen, uniforms,
    housekeeping equipment, and operating supplies (OS&E)
  • Participate
    in room mock-ups, snagging, and final inspections to ensure quality standards
    are met
  • Help establish linen par levels, inventory systems, and storage
    organization

Housekeeping Operations

  • Assist
    in overseeing the daily operations of Guest Rooms, Public Areas, Laundry, Linen
    Room, and Uniform Room
  • Ensure all areas meet luxury cleanliness,
    hygiene, and presentation standards
  • Support room inspection processes
    and ensure consistent quality assurance
  • Coordinate daily room status
    updates with Front Office and Engineering

Guest Experience &
Quality

  • Ensure delivery of exceptional, personalized,
    and anticipatory service in all housekeeping interactions
  • Support
    the execution of VIP setups, special requests, and guest preferences

  • Address guest feedback and complaints promptly, ensuring effective service
    recovery
  • Maintain high standards of room presentation aligned
    with Mandarin Oriental expectations

Team Leadership &
Development

  • Supervise and support Housekeeping Supervisors
    and attendants during daily operations
  • Assist in recruitment,
    onboarding, and training of housekeeping colleagues
  • Provide coaching,
    guidance, and performance feedback
  • Foster a positive, professional,
    and service-driven work culture
  • Support scheduling and manpower
    planning based on occupancy and operational demand

Financial
Management & Cost Control

  • Assist in monitoring departmental
    expenses, including labor, supplies, and linen usage
  • Support cost
    control initiatives while maintaining luxury standards
  • Track inventory
    levels and prevent losses, damages, or overstocking
  • Assist in budget
    preparation and financial reporting as required

Linen, Laundry &
Inventory Management

  • Oversee linen and uniform control processes,
    ensuring proper usage and lifecycle management
  • Support laundry
    operations (in-house or outsourced), ensuring quality and efficiency

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular stock audits

  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and distribution of linen and uniforms

Coordination & Communication

  • Work closely with Front
    Office, Engineering, Security, and F&B to ensure seamless operations

  • Communicate effectively regarding room readiness, maintenance issues,
    and guest requirements
  • Participate in daily briefings, departmental
    meetings, and interdepartmental coordination
  • Liaise with Purchasing
    and external suppliers for housekeeping needs

Quality Assurance &
Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Mandarin Oriental brand standards
    and audit requirements
  • Conduct regular inspections of rooms, public
    areas, and back-of-house spaces
  • Ensure adherence to hygiene,
    sanitation, and cleanliness standards
  • Maintain documentation
    for audits, inspections, and internal reviews

Safety,
Sustainability & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with health
    and safety standards for both guests and colleagues
  • Support
    the implementation of sustainable housekeeping practices
  • Ensure proper
    use, storage, and handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment
  • Assist
    in incident handling, reporting, and emergency response procedures

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s
    degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred
  • Minimum
    of 5–7 years’ experience in Housekeeping operations within a luxury hotel
    environment
  • Previous experience as Housekeeping Manager or Assistant
    Executive Housekeeper preferred
  • Pre-opening experience is highly
    desirable
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving
    skills
  • In-depth knowledge of housekeeping operations, systems,
    and procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Proficiency in housekeeping systems and PMS (Opera preferred)
