The Role
The
Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations
of assigned sections, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness,
presentation, and guest comfort in line with Mandarin Oriental’s legendary
service standards.
In a pre-opening environment, this role is essential
in supporting operational setup, training team members, and ensuring readiness
for a seamless and successful hotel opening.
Key
Responsibilities
Housekeeping Operations
- Supervise
daily cleaning and servicing of guest rooms, suites, and public areas
assigned - Ensure all areas meet luxury standards of cleanliness,
hygiene, and presentation - Conduct detailed room inspections to ensure
quality and brand compliance - Monitor room status and coordinate
with Front Office for arrivals and departures - Ensure timely turnaround
of rooms to meet operational requirements
Guest Experience &
Service Excellence
- Uphold Mandarin Oriental’s philosophy
of intuitive and anticipatory service - Ensure guest preferences, special
requests, and VIP arrangements are delivered accurately - Address guest
concerns and housekeeping-related feedback promptly - Maintain high
standards of presentation in all guest areas
Pre-Opening
Responsibilities
- Participate in training sessions, SOP
implementation, and service standards briefing - Support room setup,
mock-up inspections, and snagging processes - Assist in preparing guest
rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces for opening - Take part
in mock operations and simulation exercises
Team Leadership &
Supervision
- Supervise Housekeeping Attendants, Public Area
Attendants, and Laundry staff - Assign daily tasks and monitor team
performance - Provide ongoing coaching, training, and guidance
- Ensure proper grooming, discipline, and adherence to standards
- Support team motivation and foster a positive working environment
Linen, Supplies & Inventory Control
- Monitor usage of linen,
guest supplies, and cleaning materials - Ensure proper handling, storage,
and distribution of housekeeping supplies - Report any shortages,
damages, or discrepancies promptly - Support stock control and inventory
processes
Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate
closely with Front Office, Engineering, and other departments
- Communicate room readiness, maintenance issues, and special requests
efficiently - Participate in daily briefings and shift handovers
- Ensure clear communication within the housekeeping team
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Mandarin
Oriental brand standards and SOPs - Conduct regular inspections of rooms,
public areas, and back-of-house - Maintain proper documentation
for inspections and reports - Ensure adherence to hygiene, sanitation,
and cleanliness standards
Safety & Risk Management
- Ensure all safety procedures and security standards are followed
- Monitor proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment
- Report
accidents, hazards, or incidents immediately - Maintain a safe working
environment for team members and guests
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma
or Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred
- Minimum of 2–4 years’ experience in Housekeeping operations in a luxury
hotel environment - Previous supervisory experience is an advantage
- Pre-opening experience is preferred
- Strong attention to detail
and organizational skills - Good communication and interpersonal
