The Role

The
Laundry Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of
the laundry department, ensuring efficient processing, high-quality standards,
and timely delivery of all hotel linens, uniforms, and guest laundry.

In
a pre-opening environment, this role is essential in setting up operational
procedures, training the laundry team, and ensuring readiness for smooth
and efficient laundry operations in alignment with Mandarin Oriental’s legendary
service standards.

Key Responsibilities


Laundry Operations

  • Supervise daily laundry operations, including
    washing, drying, ironing, folding, and distribution
  • Ensure proper
    handling of guest laundry, uniforms, and hotel linen
  • Monitor workflow
    and productivity to meet operational timelines and standards
  • Ensure
    timely delivery of clean linen to all departments

Quality Control
& Standards

  • Inspect linens, uniforms, and guest laundry to ensure
    cleanliness, quality, and proper finishing
  • Ensure adherence to fabric
    care procedures and handling standards
  • Maintain consistency
    in presentation and cleanliness in line with luxury standards
  • Identify
    and report damaged or worn-out linen and uniforms

Pre-Opening
Responsibilities

  • Participate in setting up laundry facilities,
    workflows, and systems
  • Assist in developing and implementing Standard
    Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Support installation and testing of laundry
    equipment
  • Participate in mock operations, training, and simulation
    exercises
  • Assist in establishing linen flow processes and operational
    readiness

Team Supervision & Training

  • Supervise
    and guide Laundry Attendants, Pressers, and Valet staff
  • Assign daily
    duties and ensure tasks are completed efficiently
  • Provide training
    on laundry processes, equipment usage, and quality standards
  • Ensure
    proper grooming, discipline, and adherence to hotel standards
  • Foster
    teamwork and a positive working environment

Linen & Uniform
Management

  • Monitor linen inventory levels and usage
  • Ensure
    proper sorting, tracking, and rotation of linens
  • Support uniform
    handling, ensuring proper cleaning and delivery
  • Report shortages,
    damages, or discrepancies

Equipment & Maintenance


  • Monitor proper use and maintenance of laundry machinery and equipment

  • Report any breakdowns or technical issues to Engineering promptly

  • Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed
  • Maintain
    a clean and organized laundry facility

Financial Awareness &
Control

  • Monitor usage of chemicals, utilities, and supplies
    to minimize waste
  • Support cost control initiatives without compromising
    quality
  • Assist in managing operational efficiency to optimize
    resources

Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate
    with Housekeeping, Front Office, F&B, and other departments for linen
    requirements
  • Ensure smooth communication regarding urgent laundry
    requests and operational needs
  • Participate in daily briefings and shift
    handovers
  • Provide updates on laundry status and issues

Safety, Hygiene & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with health,
    hygiene, and safety standards
  • Monitor proper handling and storage
    of chemicals and cleaning agents
  • Ensure safe operation of laundry
    equipment
  • Report accidents, hazards, or unsafe conditions
    immediately

Qualifications &
Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality
    Management or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience
    in laundry operations in a hotel environment (luxury preferred)

  • Previous supervisory experience required
  • Pre-opening experience
    is an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of laundry processes, equipment,
    and fabric care
  • Good leadership and communication skills
