About
the job

Based at Mandarin Oriental, Muscat within the Finance
Division, the Director of Finance provides strategic financial leadership across
the hotel and residences and is responsible for the effective management of all
financial and accounting activities.

Reporting to the General Manager,
the Director of Finance acts as a key business partner to the hotel leadership
team, ownership and MOHG Corporate Finance, providing financial insight
and guidance to support sound commercial decision-making, sustainable
profitability and the long-term financial performance of the property.


As Director of Finance, you will be responsible for the following
duties:

  • Lead and oversee all financial and accounting
    activities for the hotel and residences, ensuring accurate, timely and effective
    financial management and reporting.
  • Direct the development,
    implementation and maintenance of robust financial controls and accounting
    procedures in accordance with MOHG policies, generally accepted accounting
    principles, management agreements and applicable local statutory
    requirements.
  • Act as a strategic business partner to the General
    Manager and Executive Committee, providing financial insight, analysis
    and recommendations to support commercial and operational decision-making.

  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes and ensure financial
    targets are realistic, appropriately challenged and aligned with the strategic
    objectives of the hotel and residences.
  • Monitor financial performance
    against budget and forecast, analyze variances and trends, and recommend
    corrective actions and opportunities to enhance profitability.
  • Identify
    opportunities to improve revenue performance, productivity, cost efficiency
    and overall profitability while maintaining Mandarin Oriental's service
    and quality standards.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation
    of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, management reports,
    forecasts and other financial information required by hotel management,
    ownership and MOHG Corporate Finance.
  • Maintain strong working
    relationships with ownership representatives and Corporate Finance and ensure
    all reporting requirements under the management agreements are fulfilled.

  • Oversee cash flow, treasury, working capital and cash management, ensuring
    appropriate controls are maintained over all hotel funds and financial
    assets.
  • Oversee credit management, accounts receivable, accounts
    payable and collection processes and ensure appropriate credit policies
    and procedures are maintained.
  • Establish and maintain effective
    internal controls to safeguard hotel and residences assets against loss, misuse
    or misappropriation.
  • Ensure adequate insurance coverage and appropriate
    risk-management measures are maintained in accordance with MOHG standards
    and management agreement requirements.
  • Coordinate and oversee internal
    and external audits, statutory reporting and other financial compliance
    requirements, ensuring timely resolution of audit findings.
  • Ensure
    compliance with applicable taxation, regulatory and statutory requirements
    in the Sultanate of Oman.
  • Drive continuous improvement across Finance
    processes, systems, reporting and controls, leveraging technology and data
    to improve efficiency and the quality of financial information.
  • Ensure
    the confidentiality, integrity and security of financial information
    and compliance with MOHG information security policies and access-control
    requirements.
  • Lead, coach and develop the Finance team, establishing
    clear objectives, succession plans and development opportunities to build
    capability and support colleague career progression.
  • Promote a culture
    of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and high performance
    within the Finance Division.
  • Work collaboratively with operational
    departments to strengthen financial awareness, improve cost management
    and support achievement of the hotel's business objectives.
  • Represent
    the Finance function as an active member of the hotel leadership team
    and undertake additional responsibilities as required by the General Manager
    and MOHG Corporate Management.

As Director of Finance,
we expect from you:

  • Strong commercial and financial acumen
    with the ability to translate financial information into clear business
    recommendations.
  • Proven ability to operate as a strategic partner
    to senior leadership and influence commercial and operational decisions.

  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial
    analysis, internal controls, compliance and risk management.
  • Excellent
    analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a high level of attention
    to detail.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to lead,
    motivate, coach and develop a high-performing Finance team.
  • Excellent
    communication, interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to build
    effective relationships with hotel leadership, ownership, corporate stakeholders
    and external partners.
  • High standards of integrity, confidentiality
    and professional ethics.
  • A proactive, organised and results-oriented
    approach, with the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic luxury
    hospitality environment.
  • Strong technology orientation and advanced
    proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.

  • Experience with hospitality systems such as SUN, Hyperion, Opera, Micros
    and other relevant financial, PMS and POS systems is highly desirable.

Experience and education

  • Bachelor's
    degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related
    discipline.
  • A professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA,
    CIMA, CA or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • A Master's degree
    in Finance, Accounting or an MBA would be an advantage.
  • Significant
    progressive experience in Finance and Accounting, preferably within luxury
    hospitality.
  • Previous experience in a senior financial leadership
    position within a luxury hotel, resort or hospitality environment.

  • Demonstrated experience managing budgeting, forecasting, financial
    reporting, internal controls, audits and commercial financial analysis.

  • Experience working within an international luxury hospitality group and/or
    a hotel management agreement environment would be advantageous.

  • Previous experience overseeing both hotel and residences financial
    operations would be an advantage.
  • Excellent written and spoken English;
    additional languages would be advantageous.
