About the job

Based at the Mandarin
Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Food and Beverage Department in Dubai, as
a Waiter/ess in the In Room Dining, you play a critical role in providing
an exceptional dining experience for guests in the privacy and comfort of their
room. The role includes taking and processing orders, serving food
and beverages, and ensuring that every aspect of the dining experience meets our
standards. The Waiter/ess will report to the F&B Supervisor.


As
a
Waiter/ess, you will be responsible for the following
duties:

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the In-Room Dining
    menu, including items, ingredients, and preparation methods.

    Offer suggestions and answer questions to enhance the guest experience.


  • Take accurate food and beverage orders from guests, communicate clearly
    to the kitchen and bar staff, and ensure all orders are delivered promptly
    and according to guest specifications.

  • Address special requests
    or dietary needs professionally and carefully, ensuring management and kitchen
    colleagues are informed of guest preferences or allergies.


  • Deliver attentive and personalized service to guests in their rooms,
    ensuring an enjoyable dining experience. Properly upsell services and products
    to guests, enhancing service and generating increased revenue.


  • Operated the POS system to process food and beverage orders, performed
    billing tasks according to hotel and cashiering policies, and set up and cleared
    tables according to restaurant standards.

  • Create WOW moments
    to surprise and delight guests, ensuring customer satisfaction from arrival
    to departure per MOHG Legendary Quality Experiences (LQES).


As a Waiter/ess, we expect from you:

  • A
    High School qualification or equivalent is preferred, and a Degree or higher
    national diploma in Hospitality/Hotel/Business Management
    is advantageous.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working as
    a waiter/waitress, preferably in a high-volume restaurant or luxury
    hotel.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    in English, with additional languages such as Arabic being a plus.


  • Knowledge of acceptable dining service procedures and standards,
    and familiarity with restaurant point of sales and cashiering
    procedures.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills,
    ability to interact effectively with guests and colleagues, and understanding
    of the service flow.

  • Demonstrates the physical ability to stand
    for extended periods and the flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including
    evenings, weekends, and holidays, in accordance with business
    requirements.
