DIRECTOR OF SALES - MICE
Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur


We are looking for a true MICE hunter, someone who knows where
the business is, how to access decision-makers, and how to win consistently

in a competitive luxury market.

This is a hands-on commercial leadership
role with full accountability for driving new MICE demand (conferences,
meetings and banqueting) and delivering the business development targets for
the hotel.

About the job


Based at the Mandarin
Oriental, Kuala Lumpur / within the Sales & Commerce Department in Kuala Lumpur,
the Director of Sales - MICE oversees and directs all aspects of the Banqueting,
Conferences & Meetings Department.

Responsible for annual expenditure for all MICE sales activities and control
of the budgeted expenditure by a monthly forecast. The Director of Sales - MICE
reports to the Director of Commercial Strategy

As Director
of Sales - MICE, you will be responsible for the following duties:


  • Fully responsible for the business development target of conferences,
    meetings and banqueting functions for the hotel.

  • Analyze market
    changes and, under the direction of the Director of Commercial Strategy,
    implement programmes to respond and win.

  • Support sales managers
    in closing major accounts / difficult leads across segments — you lead the key
    wins personally.

  • Organize and coordinate site inspections
    and FAM trips with the Catering & Event Services team to ensure programmes
    are handled professionally end-to-end.

  • Be an active member
    of the industry/community through relevant associations when
    appropriate.

  • Ensure departmental procedures, policies, LQE
    and MO Pillars are followed and practiced by all staff


As Director of Sales - MICE, we expect from
you:

  • Strong knowledge of the MICE market (how
    buying decisions are made, who influences, where to find demand).


  • Proven negotiation and selling skills with clear examples
    of closing large / complex business.

  • Excellent professional
    presentation and influencing skills (client-facing, senior stakeholder
    level).

  • Minimum 5 years’ Director of Sales experience with MOHG
    or another hotel company.

  • Degree or Diploma in Hospitality
    Management or Business Administration.
