About
the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Boston within the Culinary
Department in Boston, Massachusetts, the Banquet Cook position is responsible
for assisting the Chef in planning, preparation and production of all food items
for Mandarin Oriental, Boston. The candidate should be able to anticipate
guests’ needs and address them accordingly to provide guests with a delightful
experience.

The Banquet Cook reports to the Sous Chef and Executive
Banquet Chef.

As Banquet Cook you will be responsible for
the following duties:

  • Must be able to carry out
    the production of all dishes according to the prescribed recipes
    and specifications and ensure that the portion size, quality and presentation
    of the dishes conform to the MOHG standards

  • Check and prepare
    the required mise-en-place

  • Ensure the proper handling
    and storage of food to keep spoilage at a minimum.

  • Keep
    the kitchen area clean and hygienic

  • Monitor refrigerators
    and kitchen equipment to ensure they are in working order

  • Set up
    the kitchen pass before each service following Chef’s requirements


  • Perform any other reasonable duty as required by the kitchen
    management

  • Handles complaints/enquires promptly
    and effectively.

  • Recommends and develop solutions to meet our
    guests’ changings needs

  • Other duties as assigned
    by management.

As Banquet Cook, we expect
from you:

  • Minimum of 2 years in a similar position, luxury
    hospitality strongly preferred

  • Must have good knife
    skills

  • Knowledgeable about a variety of food and cuisines
    and proper sanitation practices

  • Must be able to walk and stand
    for entirety of shift

  • Must be able to regularly lift, push,
    and pull up to 40 pounds

  • Flexible schedule for on-call shifts
    to include weekends and holidays


Compensation

The hourly rate of pay for
this position is $33.55.
