About
the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental New York within the Catering
Office in New York City, the Catering Sales Manager is responsible
for contracting, producing and executing all food and beverage only events
in the Banquet Space.

The Catering Sales Manager reports to the Director
of Catering.

As Catering Sales Manager, you will
be responsible for the following duties:

  • Support company’s
    philosophy and company culture through the use of Pillars of Legendary Quality
    Experience, Departmental Legendary Quality Experiences on a daily basis
    and through the use of Guiding Principles and D.E.L.I.G.H.T as part of ensuring
    Guest Satisfaction and the achievement of our Mission Statement.

  • Walkthroughs/Sites of the Banquet Space
  • Following up
    on Inquiries
  • Prepare proposals and negotiate contracts for prospective
    clients
  • Determine with the client appropriate food and beverage
    selections, room layout, décor, and audio-visual needs as it pertains to each
    group
  • Management of events from 10-750 people
  • Generating
    the Banquet Event Order
  • Generating the Floor plan for the Event

  • Coordinate event details with the Banquet Managers and Culinary Staff

  • Daily solicitation of new accounts
  • Entertain Meeting and social
    event planners
  • Participate in meetings: Morning Operations Briefing,
    Morning Huddle, Resume Meeting, Banquet Event Order, Pre-Con, and Menu
    Tastings.
  • Maintain an active trace/follow-up system on all inquiries
    and personal sales calls.
  • Be fully versed in the facilities
    and capabilities of the hotels competitive set. Maintain a visible presence
    in the community through involvement with Industry associations.

  • Identify opportunities to optimize performance and create value
    by challenging existing processes, encouraging innovation and driving necessary
    change.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance
    and grooming.
  • Support company’s philosophy and company culture through
    the use of Pillars of Legendary Quality Experience, Departmental Legendary
    Quality Experiences on a daily basis
  • Generating a Summary of Charges
    for the client and making sure that payment is received for both the deposit
    and final payment prior to the event
  • Inputting of the food and beverage
    figures into Sales Force to assist in the budget and projection for
    the year
  • Responsible for meeting monthly Sales Forecast

  • Results‑driven mindset with a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue
    targets

As Catering Sales Manager, we expect
from you:

  • Excellent communications skills – written
    and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability
    to multi-task and prioritize accordingly
  • Must hold an undergraduate
    degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field
  • Fluent
    in English
  • Computer literate-must be proficient in HMS,
    knowledge of Salesforce, Cvent (Allseated)
  • College
    degree
  • Requires flexibility in scheduling, including early
    mornings, evenings, weekends, and on-call availability during major
    events.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office and hotel
    sales and property management systems
  • 2–5+ years of experience
    in conference services, or hotel operations
  • Knowledge of banquet
    operations, audiovisual requirements, and event logistics.
  • Well-groomed
    and professional in appearance and manner to meet and interact with clients

  • Well versed in Events and Food & Beverage financial aspects
  • Takes
    initiative
  • Ability to multitask under pressure and manage concurrent
    events
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal
    and guest relations abilities, a flexible, dynamic and positive demeanor.

  • Ability to work on-site, including some evenings and weekends, as required
    by event schedules.

Salary
and Benefits:

  • Salary $85,000 to $98,000 yearly
  • A
    competitive benefits package, including health, dental and vision, 401(K),
    etc
